Embellishing Open Chords – Acoustic Guitar Lesson

May 27th, 2009 · 25 Comments · Acoustic Guitar Lessons, Beginner Guitar Lessons, Free Video Guitar Lessons, Guitar Chords, Video Guitar Lessons

In this beginner’s guitar lesson the author teaches you how to spice up those open or cowboy acoustic guitar chords and really add some spice to your playing. With a little practice you’ll sound like you have been strumming the the old acoustic for years.

Works with electric guitars also. Best of luck.

thanks again man, I’ve learnt a lot from this. Me and a friend get together sometimes to play guitar, we both play acoustic, and we used this as the basis of one of our pieces. I played chords (G,C,D,A,Em) in different strumming patterns and he played little melodies in between chords in the G major pentatonic scale. It sounds really great, I haven’t mastered embellishing in between chords on my own yet, but it’ll come with practice i think. Thanks again mate!

this vid kinda helped me…the only problem is…my finger dont reach all the way sometimes and they just touch other strings and the melody doesnt come out then..i guess i shud try to grow longer fingers

Yeah this is super helpful. Just what I was looking for. Sounds good and is fun to play. And, it helps strengthen my fingers, lets me work on strumming.

Check out Fretkillrs video Country Rhythm I to see a great example of what you can do with the ideas in this lesson. Also the acoustic version of the Rolling Stones playing Love in Vain uses these techniques… Pretty cool stuff and not to hard.
