According to John Lennon, he came up with this song while struggling to write a song for the Beatles new album Rubber Soul.
During the famous interview with Rolling Stone in 1971 Lennon had this to say about the song:
“I remember I was just going through this paranoia trying to write something and nothing would come out so I just lay down and tried to not write and then this came out, the whole thing came out in one gulp.”
The video below features only the solo to the song. An easy piece that even a beginner should be able to master.

Sorry,
I meant tawtu not twatu.
Yes George’s solos had so much expression. This video shows the simplicity, yet the logic is there. Each chord and note has a purpose and evokes an emotional response.
George used a Daphne blue 1964 Fender stratocaster which he later painted psychedelic and christened it “Rocky”.
With any strat or strat style guitar then Georges heart, soul, brains, fingers, and a Vox AC 30 amp and voila! The video above is just fine no matter what!

twatu, what? It may look easy I never said it was. just don’t miss that twelfth fret harmonic!
Have you ever heard less is more? So many players can can play a million notes per second, yet can’t play beautiful slow melodic solos with love feeling and emotion, too bad for them.
Rapid fire complex guitar solo’s are not accessible to the average pop-rock music fan, but for guitar shredders, and musicians with ears so developed, they can catch and get why the 16th and 32nd notes. FOR THEIR EGOS!

Wrong my fellow fan.
The high harmonic “E” note is on the E sring at the 12th fret which though harmonics are false, it is clearer, more round and better acurately pitched at the 12th fret and it’s a chord/melody combined solo where you brush the strings like in a Jazz chord chorus.
Peace.

cool man! thanks for the info, and playing the backing chords is a super nice touch at the end! (personally I would get rid of the chorus effect but still sounded great.)
