Guitar barre (or bar chords/barré chords) play a vital part in guitar playing. You’ll find them used in virtually all types of music.
The name barre chord comes from the fact that you must “bar” all the strings located at one fret with your index finger. Your finger replaces the nut of the guitar creating a movable chord that can be played anywhere on the neck of the guitar.
Don’t worry if you do not get the hang of it right away. It is a technique that almost all beginners struggle with. Keep at it; it will be well worth the effort.
